Poetry thrives in a shadowy, allusive world in which feelings that can be un-pinnable in precise language come into a reality all their own. It may seem to have little to do with the world of facts and experimentation that is science. If all that there is can be explained by what we see and/or what we can prove, what need is there for poetry?
POEM

A Leaf In Free Fall, Rotating

 Sun, moon, Venus, Uranus

And all the stars in the deeps that shine

 Upon them, Juliet, you are

At the centre of this conglomeration

Of Matter, orchestrating a merry dance

You a bright and bouncy soul, dispelling

 Lonely grey clouds of thoughts

 Floating across the mental landscape

 Wiping them away to reveal

 Blue patches of sky where

Seeds of hopeful ideas begin to sprout.

You bring a smile to the face as I look

At myself in the mirror, enclosing us thinking selves

In a protective shell, like the Pyramid of Cheops, radiating light.
