Modern Thinkers about the human condition

by | Nov 3, 2021 | Credos

Thinkers about our societies and our belief systems wield power over the future. Not for them the cut and thrust of countless political decisions a day with a nod at this lobby and a bow at that staunch supporter. Thinkers are creating the Public Opinion of tomorrow, tapping into the unconscious ‘Geist’ that becomes a moral imperative over time which creeps up on us in stealth. That is, if their thoughts can seep out from their own eyries. We owe them a debt. They are thinking about concerns that are not about their own daily bread and butter. They are thinking about what is best for us all. We need not agree with every one of their ideas but let us pay them the respect of thinking about what there might be of value in what they are telling us.

It is said that ‘there is nothing new under the sun’. This piece has been a personal exercise, as is all writing. It has enabled the writer to work out his conclusions for himself, and therefore no doubt to ingest them better – one byproduct is that a personal effort, as opposed to a spoonfed offering, is more likely to be taken into ourselves, becoming part of our take on the world. Our route to our conclusions may be slightly different to the conclusions drawn by others but it is nevertheless striking how many people arrive at almost identical ideas. It can be regarding as validating the ideas, and as an illustration that there exists a body of people with a wish to reflect on the world. The more it becomes a community the more chance there will be that their ideas can feed off each other.

There are links to papers, abstracts and websites of thinkers about the world in which we live, whether in personal terms or the world around us.

As one among many of Roy’s tenets, he states that: ‘As a finely balanced clock with its parts, this infinite universe with galaxies, stars and planets down to the most microscopic elements, we are interdependent and at-one with everything – all governed by natural law.
